61% of all companies are using webinars to increase productivity and save costs

In this down economy, there is a shift happening away from in-person meetings, and businesses are turning to online events to shorten their sales cycle and increase their reach . If you don’t have webinars as part of your online marketing mix, you are missing out on a valuable opportunity—and losing your competitive edge.

Here are the top 7 strategies for hosting a successful webinar:

1. Give people a good reason to log on.
2. Use an agenda.
3. Plan your audience interaction.
4. Make it short and sweet.
5. Use visual aids.
6. Demo your product.
7. Follow up.

Excellent overview… as a Webinar provider and purveyor of specific web conferencing platforms, I suggest that people focus on using one of two well-known platforms – WebEx or GoToMeeting. These two platforms allow for differing levels of registration and collaboration detail, but they are the most reliable platforms I have come across in my 15+ years in the conferencing industry.
So, you ask, Why not Microsoft LiveMeeting? Like many of the Microsoft software products, new versions come with many bugs… and, if you incorporate a PowerPoint in your webinar, many times older versions of PowerPoint don’t mix well with the newest version of the LiveMeeting webinar tool.
So, my advice, keep it simple and use WebEx or GotoMeeting!
